Wondering what’s the social media news in summer 2015?
Factorysocial has some valuable insights
1. Social media news: Factorysocial has re-launched.
After a long lay off and being involved in all kinds of social media projects we’re back as a social media agency.
We know that just before Christmas there are mega predictions about what the new year will hold for social media. But in this industry things can change in a heartbeat. This is what you should be considering during May – July 2015 unless something happens in between.
So let’s get on with it.
What should you know about social media in 2015?
2. Psst, private messaging is back
It’s strange how fads become trends and ‘old tech’ gets a revamp. Well, guess what the social media news is? Private messaging is back. Ironic really when everything gets hacked. Yet you’re probably safer and more likely to get seen when you use a private message. WhatsApp has seemingly taken over the world and synching contacts has never been so simple. Line, Kik, GroupMe and even good old FB Messenger are being used more than ever. So how do you get a slice of that pie as a marketer? Native ads is where it’s at. Take a look at what TechCrunch has to say about AdMob tools
3. Be visual, be vital
If you aren’t up with visual then you’re dead in the water. Visual is key. Look at Pinterest, Snapchat and Instagram. As a writer I hate saying ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ but I know when I’m licked. With Slideshre waiting in the wings on the business side visuals are massive. Don’t forget that copyright and images is a really hot topic. Having appeared on BAPLA’s expert panel on copyright and social media it’s a minefield. Watch out for more information shortly on just this topic.
4. Mobile marketing; is yours sorted?
Google’s mobile friendly demand and associated penalties for non compliance just underscores how mobile just gets more integrated into everyday life. By 2018 mobile ad spend should account for $42 billion dollars in the US alone. Any business is privileged to have 24/7 access via mobile so why wouldn’t you use it? Using social media during tv programmes in your niche, putting out appropriate messages at specific points in the day are all part of the contemporary marketing mix. This isn;t social media news it’s eastblished practice in case you missed it.For more information or advice contact factory social.
5. Struggling with your blog and social media promotion?
Hmnn, not surprising in many ways. You need to be creative. Vloggers lead the way, social media holds their coat. Social IS the way to promote the messages you want to share. In-Network Publishing is the buzz term- check it out. Special blog social marketing packages are what B2Bs and B2Cs need right now. Check out what Business Insider has to say about Facebook’s new venture If this is social media news to you then you are following the wrong people!
6. Niche networks are big in social media- 2015
Factory Social predicted niche networks some time back. It made sense. You want to hook up with the people that think like you and are interested in what matters to you. We were all seduced by the concept of global marketing and reaching out to the world. We soon realised that local and community marketing could prove more valuable. Being busy and highly distracted people want the message that instantly resonates. Target specific audiences. Big data has never been more important. Using insights not observations means specific communities of interested people can be your market place. People love to share their passions. Watch the rise of niche networks or grow your own!
7. Consumer social media behaviours keep changing.
To say: ‘our customers aren’t on Pinterest’ for example, is not a smart move Keeping up to date is vital. How people are using social, their mobile devices, new tech gadgets and wearables affects behaviours and profoundly affects the messages people want. Remember consumers compare you with everyone else not just competitors. They are certainly far less tolerant, loyal, expect a dialogue with you, are more informed and you’ll find them everywhere. The question is: will they find you?
